About the Role:
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor and working an 8/6 roster BIBO from Perth, the Boilermaker will contribute to the optimisation of the performance, availability, and safety of fixed plant by performing welding and fabrication tasks associated with preventative maintenance, installation, and construction of the gold plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform welding and cutting tasks applicable to gold plant fixed plant maintenance including but not limited to performing works on CIL tanks, transfer chutes, structural repairs, fabrication works, and weld repairs
- Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders, and carbon rod gauging
- Welding of mild steel and stainless-steel components
- Cutting, preparation, and installation of chute liners
- Assist other members of the maintenance department as required including the Mechanical Fitters, Service Fitters, and Light Vehicle Mechanics
- Accurately record all work carried out, book out parts out correctly
- Use, maintain and store all equipment in an appropriate manner
- Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify supervisors
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and look for improvement opportunities
- Respond to call outs as required
- Provide guidance to contractors as required, particularly during shutdowns.
Essential:
- Current WA manual driver’s licence
- Metal Workers Trade Certificate
- Working at Heights Ticket
- Confined Spaces Ticket- Desirable
- 3 years’ experience working on processing plants
- Experience with processing plant preventative maintenance programs and systems
- Experience with ARC and MIG welding and oxy cutting
- Experience in reading and working to drawings
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Boiler Maker Certificate
- Franner Operator ticket – Mandatory
