BARTO GOLD MINING


Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. Its flagship project is located at Marvel Loch WA, operating multiple open pits and an underground mine, which services a 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility. These are supported by a tenement holding of greater than 1,400km2 over the prospective Southern Cross Greenstone Belt, 4 and a half hours from Perth.

Due to this we are actively seeking to recruit a Geology Database Specialist to join our Southern Cross operation. This position will be working in our corporate office Monday to Friday with regular site visits as and when required.

About the role:

The successful applicant will join a small dynamic team of individuals from diverse and culturally different backgrounds that support each other. Reporting directly to the Exploration & Geology Manager and supported by the relevant Senior Geologists from the Open Pit, Underground and Exploration teams. The Geology Database Specialist will be an integral member of the team responsible for the ongoing operational and structural management of the corporate database. Including overseeing data auditing, quality assurance and reporting.

Liaison skills will be crucial to being successful in this role. With key interactions including the multiple geological mine production and exploration teams and collaborating with the IT infrastructure manager to add value to the business via the implementation of robust data recording systems.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in geological database maintenance or similar IT database management role, with a comprehensive knowledge of database packages, ideally geological focused.

  • Maxwells DataShed software

More importantly, character attributes of self-driven team player individuals integrating themselves into the different technical departments, establishing professional relationships to facilitate collaborative work environments, while communicating effectively across a broad group of stakeholders will be highly regarded.

Essential to being successful in consideration for this role. You will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:

  • 3 years' experience in mining or exploration industry geological database operations
  • Demonstrated keen attention to detail and proactiveness.
  • Professional planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills.
  • High level administrative skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Mining and exploration experience, preferably in gold - desirable
  • Knowledge of 3D mining software packages Leapfrog and Surpac - desirable

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Exploration and Geology Manager regarding the maintenance and security of the corporate database system.
  • Supporting the relevant Senior Geologists from the Exploration, Open Pit and Underground operations to ensure generated data is provided to the operational teams so that it can be used in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the geological leadership team to ensure the Geology Department provides high quality technical services to the Mining, Environmental and Processing Departments.
  • Reporting of safety observations, including hazards and interactions.
