BARTO GOLD MINING
Barto Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer that has been operating since 2009, focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The operation consists of a 1.8 Mtpa processing plant, three active underground mines, and two active open pits. New operations are planned as part of the Company’s five-year growth plan and its vision to reach 150,000 oz per annum by 2028.
Due to this exciting period of growth, we are seeking to recruit an Open Pit – Pit Technician to join our Southern Cross operation. This position operates on an 8:6 and 7:7 alternating day and night shift roster, BIBO from Perth; however, alternative travel arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates not residing in Perth.
About the Role
The successful applicant will join a small, dynamic team of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who work collaboratively and support each other. Reporting to the Senior Geologist – Open Pit, and supported by the Open Pit Mine Geologists, this role will assist with daily mining operations.
Routine responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with ore mark-ups
- Ore spotting and dig plan tracking
- Daily geological data entry
- Supporting grade control activities
- Collaborating with Exploration and Resource Definition teams when required regarding surface operations
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Pit Technician, preferably within gold operations. However, strong personal attributes such as being motivated, responsible, self-driven, and a strong team player will be highly regarded.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Attributes
To be considered for this role you will possess:
- Experience in geological mining operations, with at least 1 year in an open pit environment
- Strong attention to detail and proactive work approach
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to safe systems of work
- Strong organisational skills and diligent completion of administrative tasks
- Full Australian working rights
- Current Western Australian driver’s licence
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and police clearance
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Geologist with daily open pit operations
- Completing ore mark-ups
- Guiding selective ore mining to minimise ore loss and dilution
- Monitoring mining activities and communicating observations as required
- Completing sampling tasks and associated data entry
- Supporting grade control drilling programs including QAQC, sample collection, and dispatch
- Reporting safety observations including hazards and workplace interactions
