BARTO GOLD MINING
Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia.
Its flagship project is located at Marvel Loch in Western Australia, operating multiple open pits and an underground mine, which services a name plate 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility.
These are supported by a tenement holding of greater than 1,400km2 over the prospective Southern Cross Greenstone Belt only 4 and a half hours from Perth.
Significant project investment to date has resulted in the company being well positioned, developing its multiple >5-year mine life underground mines, in conjunction with continuing to produce from its open pit operations.
Currently the company operates three producing undergrounds; two of which are being rehabilitated simultaneously, and two open pits balanced against each other.
Due to this exciting growth, we are actively seeking to recruit a Senior Mine Geologist - Underground to join our Southern Cross operation. This position will be on 8 days on 6 days off roster BIBO from Perth, or DIDO for professionals not residing in Perth.
About the role:
The successful applicant will join and lead a small dynamic team of individuals from diverse and culturally different backgrounds that support each other.
The Senior Mine Geologist – Underground will be a will lead the underground mine geology team guiding and training the mine and project geologists two of which are new to the industry and keen to learn.
Reporting to and supported by Geology Manager you will be responsible for the updates to the underground grade control models, working closely with the resource estimation team. Working in tandem with the resource definition and exploration teams so that underground drilling operations complete efficiently, while supporting the ancillary underground technical service teams in relation to the safe and efficient execution of underground production operations.
Additionally, you will be part of the geological leadership team where cross collaboration with the senior mine geologist – open pit and assisting the geology manager with the longer term delivery of mine geology services will be encouraged

About you:

Essential to being successful in consideration for this role. You will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in producing mine geology operations, with at least 5 years being in an underground environment.
- Minimum of experience at two different producing operations
- Experience in both owner operated, and contractor operated production business models
- Knowledge, understanding and ability to complete grade control estimation workflows.
- Knowledge of both Surpac and Leapfrog Geo 3D modelling software packages
- Professional planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated keen attention to detail and proactiveness.
- High level administrative skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
Desirable to be successful in consideration for this role. You will possess the following knowledge and have been exposed to these experiences:
- Work Health & Safety Supervisor course completion.
- Certificate III in leadership and management is desirable but not required
- Experience working as a resource estimation geologist
- Knowledge of Datamine and Micromine 3D mining software packages are desirable but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the mine geology underground team. Developing staff skills, updating wireframe interpretations for resource estimation within in timeframes.
- Ensuring the mine geology underground team accurately tracks and reports ore movements and grade control operations on daily, weekly and monthly cycles.
- Supporting the Geology Manager regarding the monthly reconciliation, project assessment and forward-looking plan.
- Ensuring the Geology Department provides high quality technical services to the Mining, Environmental and Processing Departments.
- Reporting of safety observations, including hazards and interactions.

An established three different bonus structures will be available when company and personal KPI’s are met.
These include:
Quarterly Site production bonus consisting of 50% site wide safe production achievements and 50% personal KPI performance
Quarterly Departmental Management Discretionary bonus, consisting of awards of $500 increments up to $2,500 for when sustained effort over and above normal operations is recognised
Quarterly Business Improvement Bonus, consisting of an award up to $25,000 to an individual or group of individuals, decided by the management team panel for ideas that contribute significantly to the operation of the business.
