Barto Gold is an Australian Gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, three active underground mines, two active open pits, with new mines started in 2024 and planned to start in 2026 as part of the companies 5-year plan and a vision to reach 150,000oz/pa by 2028
About the role:
Reporting to the Mining Manager OP & UG, the Underground Mine Foreman role is responsible for liaising with the mine operations teams and other departments to meet all safety, cost and production targets. The role is also required to carry out the statutory duties and responsibilities of the Shiftboss and/or Underground Manager as outlined by the Mine Safety and Inspection Act in their absence. The Underground Mine Foreman will be responsible in leading an owner operator team in dewatering and rehabilitation of the newly established Frasers mine in readiness for production activities to commence. This is a critical project for the growth of our Southern Cross operations.
About you:
The successful candidate will hold an underground shift supervisor qualification and have at least 10 years underground experience with at least 5 in the capacity of shiftboss or mine foreman. You need to have a demonstrated track record of expertise in managing a team of owner operator personal on a mine site. Strong leadership, sound communication and supervisory skills with a strong commitment to the highest safety standards are essential to your success in this critical role.
Essential experience will also include:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role as shift supervisor/ mine foreman
- Collaborate with technical teams to formulate weekly plans.
- Must hold First Aid, and current Shift Boss Ticket (compliant to new WHS legislation)
- Collaborate with Shift Supervisors to prioritise and execute weekly plans.
- Manage rostering and leave of crews.
- Reviewing and approving mining plans.
- Oversee the daily work of mine crews, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues or challenges that arise.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Liaise with senior management and stakeholders regarding project status and progress.
- Ensure all mining equipment and machinery is operated safely and maintained properly.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and high-performance standards.
- Relevant mining qualifications.
