BARTO GOLD MINING
Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. Our flagship project located in Marvel Loch WA, involves multiple open pits and underground mines, to service a 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility. These are supported by a tenement holding of greater than 1,400km2 over the prospective Southern Cross Greenstone Belt.
Significant project investment to date has resulted in the company being well positioned to develop multiple >5 year mine life underground mines, in conjunction with its’ multiple open pit operations.
Success to date has resulted in the company being able to extend its current UG operations at our Jacoletti UG operation, whilst recommencing operations at both the historic Marvel Loch and Fraser’s UG mines, as well as a suite of open pit mining opportunities.
Due to this growth, we are actively seeking to recruit an Underground Project Mine Geologist to join our Southern Cross operation. This position is BIBO from Perth, 8 days on, 6 days off. However, there are also other travel options available for professionals not residing in Perth.
About the role:
The successful applicant will join a small dynamic team from diverse and culturally different backgrounds. The Underground Project Mine Geologist will be an integral member of the team, applying advanced geological expertise to ensure the efficient extraction of mineral resources, whilst prioritising safety.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in a mine geology role, with at least three years of experience in an underground operation. Preferably within narrow–vein Au or base metals environment. Professional Project and Mine Geologists wanting to take the next step in their career are highly encouraged to apply.
Essential to being successful in consideration for this role. You will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
- 5 years geological experience in mining operations with at least 3 years in an underground environment.
- Proactive in looking to add value through accurate geological data collection and interpretation.
- Professional planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills.
- High level administrative skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of 3D mining software packages Leapfrog, Logchief, Surpac, Rockmapper and Microsoft Office Suite - desirable.
- C-Class WA Driver’s License
- Full Working Rights in Australia
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Senior Under Ground Geologist with wireframing and GC block model updates.
- Underground drill rig management and supervision.
- Oversee day to day mine geology activities, including face mapping, face sampling, and updating all plans and sections.
- Supervision of ore tracking and reporting of movements and grade control operations on daily, weekly and monthly cycles.
- Ensuring the Geology Department provides high quality technical service to the Mining, Environmental and Processing Departments.
- Champion safety through active participation in pre-starts, JHAs, and hazard management.
- Mentor and train team members to build technical capability.
- Provide interpretation of deposit structure, lithology, alteration and mineralisation.
