Environmental Technician – 6 Month Casual Contract

NQM Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer operating the Pajingo Gold Mine, located 50km from Charters Towers in North Queensland. We are seeking a hands-on Environmental Technician to join our team on a 6-month casual contract, working full-time hours.
This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental fieldwork within a mining operation.
About the Role
In this role, you will support the site’s Environmental Department by carrying out sampling, monitoring, and vegetation control activities in line with the Environmental Management System and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collecting and dispatching environmental samples in line with chain of custody procedures.
- Operating and maintaining field-based monitoring equipment.
- Recording and compiling environmental data for reporting.
- Implementing weed control programs using chemical and mechanical methods.
- Assisting with site rehabilitation, revegetation, and waste management activities.
- Supporting environmental compliance and reporting requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Current manual driver’s licence.
- Ability to work remotely and independently.
- Year 12 education or equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ experience in station work, farming, or similar outdoor/manual work.
Desirable:
- Water sampling or environmental monitoring experience.
- Vegetation control knowledge (chemical/physical methods).
- Tickets such as ACDC (Poisons), Chainsaw, Forklift, First Aid.
- 4WD and recovery skills.
