Barto Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 in Western Australia. The operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, one active underground mine, and two active open pits. The company is also starting two new mines in the later part of 2024 as part of the companies 5-year plan and a vision to reach 150,000oz/pa by 2028.
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the role is to assist the mining team with the day to day tasks of our mining operations. This role will be 8 days on, 6 days off roster travelling by bus-in/bus-out from Malaga or Midvale.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure compliance of Geotechnical considerations as per the Mines Regulations.
- Monitoring and management of all geotechnical hazards in the underground operations and when required, provide technical support to the open pit operations.
- Conduct regular underground inspections/audits to ensure adherence to ground support standards.
- Continuous underground data collection including structural mapping, stress damage mapping and geotechnical definition.
- The validation and interpretation of geotechnical database, through ongoing data collection and evaluation to maintain the existing geotechnical models.
- Design, maintain, and upgrade the site open pit geotechnical monitoring systems.
- Adhere to safety and environmental systems, policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others
To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:
- A tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Surpac & Deswik
- Experience and exposure to underground mining and Open Pit mining
- WA ‘C’ class driver’s license
- Current Police clearance
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Motivated and able to manage own workload to achieve agreed outcomes
- Strong work ethic, with a relationship service focus
