Barto Gold is an Australian Gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, 3 active underground mines, one active open pit, with new mines to be started in 2027/28 as part of the companies 5-year plan and a vision to reach 150,000oz/pa by 2028.

We have an exciting opportunity to make your mark on a startup underground which is dewatering and undergoing rehabilitation to commence production later in the year.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Alternate Underground Manager/Mining Superintendent ready to step up to support the safe, efficient, and compliant development and operation of our underground mining activities at Barto Gold.

This role plays a critical part in the site structure, providing oversight across mine planning, technical services, cost modelling, and operational performance while acting as the alternate to the Underground Manager.

Reporting to the Mining Manager UG, as the successful candidate, you will

  • Fulfil Alternate Underground Manager duties under WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022

 

  • Support the Underground Manager in coordinating underground operations to achieve production, safety, and cost objectives
  • Identify and implement changes to improve UG production, quality, cost, safety and environmental performance
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to challenge the operational status quo and seek out improvements that will enable the planned growth of the mine.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Safety, Geology, Processing)

 

  • Assume total responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our UG mining operations

 

 

 

 

About you­­­­

  • First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
  • 6+ years of relevant gold mining experience
  • 3 to 5 years senior line management experience
  • Strong understanding of mine planning and scheduling systems
  • Have an approach and communication style which supports the sharing of knowledge and professional development.
  • Strong demonstrated proactive approach to safety
  • The ability and desire to obtain SSE ticket
  • Risk management experience
  • SAP Experience (Desirable)
