Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. Its flagship project is located at Marvel Loch in Western Australia, operating multiple open pits and an underground mine, which services a 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility. These are supported by a tenement holding of greater than 1,400km2 over the prospective Southern Cross Greenstone Belt only 4 and a half hours from Perth.

Due to exciting growth in our Western Australian operations, we are seeking to recruit an Electrical Leading Hand to join our Southern Cross operation. The role is an 8:6 roster and is BIBO from Perth.

About the Role

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor/Superintendent, the Electrical Leading Hand will lead a team of HV Electricians, prioritising maintenance activities, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting production continuity. You will work closely with the maintenance planners, superintendent, and process team to deliver high‑quality electrical maintenance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate HV and LV electrical maintenance across the processing plant
  • Ensure statutory inspections, electrical logbooks, and tagging requirements are completed
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of HV Electricians
  • Conduct inspections to identify hazards, defects, and required repairs
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for weekly maintenance
  • Liaise with supply and planning teams to ensure parts availability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost‑effective maintenance practices
  • Promote and drive a strong safety culture across the team
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard identification, and incident investigations
  • Be available for call‑out breakdown support as required

  

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Schedule 26 Statutory Appointed Supervisor
  • Electrical Trade Certificate & Current Electrical Licence
  • High Voltage Switching Qualification
  • CPR/LV Rescue
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and fault‑find control circuits
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability
  • WA Manual Driver’s Licence
  • Computer literacy
  • 7–10 years’ electrical experience, including 3–5 years on processing plants
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role, ideally on mine sites
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems, PLC analysis, test & tag, and AS3007 compliance
  • Strong reporting, work order, and safety meeting experience

  • Gold processing plant experience
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards, Mines Act & Regulations
