Barto Gold Mining is an Australian Gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The Southern Cross Gold Operations (SXO) is a producing gold asset situated in Western Australia, located 375km east of Perth, 235km west of Kalgoorlie and 32km south of the town of Southern Cross. The Southern Cross operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, two active Underground mines, one active Open Pit with the annual production of 80k oz. The 5-year plan has a production target of over 500,000 ounces.
About the Role
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Advisor plays a valuable role in supporting the sites operations with respect to all environmental, sustainability and compliance matters at the Southern Cross Operations.
As the ideal candidate you will have recently completed a graduate mining position or have at least one year of experience working on a mine site in WA.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Promote environmental awareness and training across the operation
- Conduct various monitoring onsite, including water, dust and noise and vibration
- Conduct drone landform monitoring
- Manage the monitoring and compliance data for the operation
- Assist with reporting and compliance obligations for the operation
- Assist with rehabilitation, including participation in seeding programmes
About You - Qualifications and Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science
- A minimum of 1 year of on-site mine experience
- Manual WA C class licence
- Knowledge of WA legislative requirements under the Mining Act and the EPA Act
- Experience using ArcGIS mapping software
- A positive attitude and committed to instilling positive change
- Experience in a DIDO / FIFO role
