Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. With its flagship project located at Marvel Loch in Western Australia, the company holds a tenement package in excess of 1,400km2 with significant exploration investment, 3 current open pit mines and 3 underground mines, it is an exciting time for the company.

We are seeking an experienced Exploration Superintendent to lead near-mine and regional exploration programs focused on resource growth, mine-life extension, and new discovery opportunities.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in the field, builds strong teams, and delivers high-quality exploration outcomes.

About the Role

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Exploration Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing exploration programs across the Southern Cross and Forrestania regions. You will oversee drilling operations, manage field teams, ensure technical excellence, and drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective exploration activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of short- and long-term exploration programs.
  • Identify and prioritise targets using geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets.
  • Manage RC and diamond drilling programs, including design, supervision, and QA/QC.
  • Oversee field operations, logistics, contractors, and equipment.
  • Interpret geological data and contribute to geological modelling and resource estimation.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, statutory requirements, and environmental obligations.
  • Engage with landholders, Traditional Owners, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage exploration budgets and monitor expenditure.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop geologists, field technicians, and contractors.
  • Deliver timely technical reports and communicate results to senior leadership.

About You

You will bring strong technical capability, leadership experience, and a passion for discovery. You enjoy working in dynamic field environments and can balance operational demands with strategic thinking.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Geology or related discipline.
  • Extensive mineral exploration experience, including leadership roles.
  • Strong background in WA gold exploration, ideally within the Yilgarn Craton.
  • Proven experience managing drilling programs and field teams.
  • Solid understanding of geological modelling and resource estimation.
  • Experience working on active mine sites.

  • Sound financial and budget management experience.

Desirable

  • AusIMM or similar professional membership.
  • Experience with Leapfrog, Micromine, Datamine or similar software.
  • Knowledge of WA regulatory frameworks and permitting.
  • Experience in the Southern Cross / Forrestania region.
