Barto Gold Mining is an Australian Gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The Southern Cross operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, two active underground mine, one active Open Pit with the annual production of 80k oz and potential to grow to 150k oz in the next 5 years.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Management Accountant / Business Analyst to join our busy finance team. This role will provide high-quality analysis, management reporting, cost accounting support and financial insights to help operational and leadership teams understand performance, manage costs and make informed decisions.

This role is well suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operations, turning complex data into practical insights and contributing to a high-performing finance team in a growing gold mining business. 

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide detailed management reports and cost analysis to internal stakeholders, enabling effective review of operating costs, performance trends and underlying cost drivers.
  • Prepare end-of-month and ad hoc reports for managers and superintendents using SAP, ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and relevant to operational decision-making.
  • Provide practical support to operational stakeholders to ensure they understand accrual accounting concepts, EOM activities and their role in accurate cost reporting.
  • Analyse budget and forecast variances, investigate key drivers and prepare clear commentary to support management review and corrective action.
  • Develop operational specific processes, practices and procedures for cost control, analysis and reporting
  • Providing finance business partner service to Mine Site stakeholders
  • Preparing EOM Journals, accruals, cost allocations for Fuel, Power, any other Mining and Processing costs
  • Providing support to the stakeholders on SAP and any other cost related matters
  • Preparing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts to ensure cost is budgeted accurately
  • Prepare cost review presentations for management at end of month, half year and year end, highlighting key cost drivers, trends
  • Assist with annual external audits where relevant

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst or Management Accountant
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
  • Completed or working towards CPA, CA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Proficiency in SAP (S4 HANA Fiori) - advantage
  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices, financial modelling, regulatory reporting standards, business planning and analysis, with the ability to work confidently with large data sets.
  • Working knowledge of budget framework and integrated financial systems
  • Strong Attention to details and time management
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to self review and self manage daily tasks
  • Ability to interact proactively with management and staff at all levels of the organisation in the resolution of financial issues
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate, promote, and uphold HR initiatives and values, including discretion and confidentiality
  • A team player and positive attitude
  • Mining industry experience – desirable
  • Mine Site visit – once a month for 1 week
