Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. With its flagship project located at Marvel Loch in Western Australia, the company holds a tenement package in excess of 1,400km2 with significant exploration investment, 1 current open pit mines and 3 underground mines, it is an exciting time for the company.

We are seeking an experienced Power Generation Technician to join our Processing & Maintenance team at Marvel Loch. In this critical role, you will ensure the safe, reliable and continuous operation of diesel power generation and mains‑powered infrastructure that supports the Marvel Loch Processing Plant and both Marvel Loch and Frasers Underground Mines.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on technician who thrives in a mining or heavy industrial environment and enjoys working closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Processing teams to keep operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating, monitoring and controlling diesel generator sets powering surface and underground operations
  • Managing load transfers, synchronisation and load‑sharing activities
  • Monitoring generator performance (voltage, frequency, load, temps, pressures, fuel use)
  • Responding to alarms, equipment trips and SCADA/Citec notifications
  • Conducting routine inspections, logging equipment condition, and identifying defects early
  • Supporting Mechanical and Electrical teams with planned maintenance, troubleshooting and isolations
  • Maintaining fuel systems, transfers and accurate consumption records
  • Upholding strong safety standards, participating in permit-to-work, LOTO and site safety initiatives

What You Bring

Essential

  • Experience operating and monitoring diesel gensets in mining, processing or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of AC generation, synchronisation and load‑sharing
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams and interpret genset control panels
  • Experience with SCADA/Citec or similar monitoring systems
  • High safety awareness and understanding of isolation/permit systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple operational teams

Desirable

  • Familiarity with CAT, Cummins or MTU generator systems
  • Underground mining experience
  • Engineering qualifications (Electrical/Mechanical/Electromechanical)
  • Working at Heights, Confined Space or First Aid
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
